FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What is cold process soap?
Cold process soap is created by mixing melted oils and butters with a sodium hydroxide (lye) and water solution. In some recipes, the water may be replaced with infused water, goat’s milk, or natural fruit or vegetable purées. This method allows for complete customization and results in a luxurious, nourishing bar.
2. How long does cold-process soap take to cure?
Cold process soaps require 4–6 weeks to fully cure. During this time, the sodium hydroxide (lye) undergoes a chemical reaction called saponification, transforming the oils and butters into soap. This curing period ensures a harder, longer-lasting bar with a gentle, skin-loving lather.
3. Why does handmade soap look different from batch to batch?
Because each batch is handcrafted, slight variations in color, design, size, and botanical placement may occur. These differences are completely natural and one of the beautiful characteristics of handmade soaps—no two bars are the same.
4. How should I store my handcrafted soap?
To extend the life of your soap, keep it in a dry, well-ventilated area between uses. A soap dish with drainage is ideal. Avoid letting the bar sit in standing water, as this can cause it to soften and dissolve more quickly.
